Re: Cleaning up some old Ludwig Standard Drums
From looking at this thread it appears Martin is using an old Rogers Kit from the 1960's.

Martin also appears to have fairly recently released a DVD called "Life on Drums". Could be interesting. I've just ordered it.

Here is an interesting article that discusses Martin's Snare sound:

I've seen the trailer for Life on Drums and it seems excellent.
I will look into those links when I get a bit more of a moment.

Dude. How are you going to plug a fuzz pedal into that?

Mic and send out to mixer. Add fuzz to taste.

Dude. That actually sounds killer. If you do this, please record.

Re: Cleaning up some old Ludwig Standard Drums
Contact Mics on the Cymbals.
Truth be told,...my interest in drumming is a result of me wanting to be a better bass player and the fact that for the most part,....they style of drumming I hear in my head and want to make music to and be creative with is just not available with any drummers here in town. I'm sue I could get Mecha Shiva's drummer on board to play those sorts of styles,....but I don't really have the vocabulary to communicate with him what I'm looking for.
So it's very much a,...."if I want to do it,....I'mma have to do it myself". As a result I'm likely going to have to invest in a set of Mics (which is why I want to keep it simple),...a Mixer and potentially a Boomerang 3 or a decent DAW as well as a rudimentary kit.

Re: Cleaning up some old Ludwig Standard Drums
After much holiday travel and assorted nonsense I got home and tonight finished up the @ 9 x 13 tom. Now working on tuning it. Kind of mystified by drum tuning. It ain't as straightforward as guitar tuning it seems.
