Overdrive to fuzz ratio: What's ok?

Post by wsas3 »

Currently have 1 fuzz and two overdrives on my board (well, i will when the supah chan gets here  ). A musket, a fuck and a supah chan. Is two overdrives too much? More fuzz? what would you guys say? I think i'll be pretty set in terms of dirt, but i know some of you fuzz lovers will feel differently.

Dude, you could have 25 overdrives and 0 fuzzes, and if you made it sound good, I'd say "GOOD JORB! HAIGH FAHV!!"

Me, I tend towards the more fuzz than OD side of things, but I also consider myself a novice in all things OD. I suspect that if I had a number of distinct OD sounds that I dug, I would increase my OD collection.

EDIT: Also, I am extremely amused by our avatars being on the same screen. Looks like they're having some kind of terrifying conversation. We should post back-to-back more often!

Nothing is too much if you use it all pretty regular. I'd say you're pretty good on OD except maybe a Black Forest which could add some variety/versatility. Definitely need more fuzz and maybe a badass distortion capable of a huge variety of awesomeness like the Elements. My board is fucking packed with dirt pedals though, overkill to some, perfect for me.

Haha yes this is pretty much the philosophy I roll with. And of course it actually does HAVE to be a fuck overdrive.

I'm sorry. You were incorrect. The correct ratio is

ALL FUZZES:ALL OVERDRIVES

That, it's all cool! Personally I go more toward the fuzz side of things, I've got TAFM, Atoner, Arc Flash and a Sparkle Motion. The arc flash and sparkles have some fuzzy overdrive settings though, so I figure I have that covered, since I don't want smooth overdrive or whatever sounds. I've never really owned a proper overdrive though, maybe if I got one I'd change my mind. :idk: I've been thinking of getting a fuck soon-ish to see what all the fuss is about.

The fuss is definetely over something. The fuck is insane! :joy:
but yeah i don't mean i prefer overdrive, its just that the 2 are boner sprouting pedals and thats the order shit happened in :idk:

Right now I'm split pretty evenly: Three overdrives and four fuzzes.

I'm (heresy!) actually digging overdrives more than fuzz these days - I'm just finding it more useful for the stuff I'm writing.
My setup right now is just one fuzz and 3 drives, but the Scarab Deluxe I got today may sneak in the lineup now, too.
Maybe I'll get another drive for a 1:2 ratio.
Maybe partying will help.

Klon, Bearfoot Honey Bee, and either a Ben Adrian Bunnydrive or Field Effects Manifold Drive.
Maybe partying will help.
