Fixing a microphone

Hey so I just received this microphone for free from a friend. Unfortunately, it is not working. It's a Marshall MXL v67 with Mogami. When I plug it in it just has no response. No noise is picked up by it. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this, or places I might be able to send it to get fixed? Here is a picture:

Oh yea I checked cable and tested other mics on the same cable, so the problem is definitely with the mic.

Unscrew it? One time, fixing a sm57 was as easy as soldering one wire to one connection. Maybe this'll be along those lines of simplicity.

alright well when I unscrew it what should I look for? unfortunately I have no experience with sodering which i should really learn just haven't had time, maybe this is a good time to learn Thanks.

you are using phantom power right? because it won't work without it.

lol you have a condensor mic which requires 48v in order to work which is commonly referred to as phantom power.

holy shit lol i did not even know. this is technically my first condenser mic i guess. so could you explain phantom power to me, and maybe give any recommendations on what I should get? I just googled it and seems like there are a lot of options as usual.

well if your using a mixer it might have a +48v button which would power it but if you don't have anything that can power it then you'll need a power supply like this http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-PS400-U ... B000FG795I

well when I originally tested it out it was just through a basic amp. Will a PA have a +48v built in? I guess I'll have to check on the small one we have at my band's practice space. Thanks for the link and help

You know I'm actually not sure if a PA has one or not, usually you get the phantom power from the board which then goes out to the PA, so I'm not sure on that one.

also the mic you have is more of a studio mic and is really sensitive and not great for live use at all , but if your gonna record with it then i would recommend a you get a pop filter which stops you from blowing into the mic when you say words that have B or P in them.

Oh, hahahahah, yeah, get a mixer, or a pre-amp with phantom power, then it'll totally work, probably.

Cool I'll look into that, but yea I'm going to use it for recording only (if it is actually working). But anyway at least I got a free mic. Thanks for the help everyone.
