raise your hand if you spent the next few days/weeks/months telling people you were not a member of the trench coat mafia.

I remember learning about this in 7th/8th grade in my catholic high school. They focused on a girl who was asked if she believed in God and knowing they'd shoot her if she said yes, she said yes anyways.

I raised my hand and proposed this idea:
Why would it have been wrong if she said no? She could have lived, spread the 'good news' to others, and who cares what some dickhead in a trench coat thinks of you?

:idk: Kudos to her anyways for being brave. I just don't like how they suggested if I have a gun to my head that I should tell the truth and die for it. Anywho:

My school did that too.... it got old pretty quick. Kudos for bravery, yeah... but I don't see why you have to just ignore all the other people that died... it's like they didn't matter. They weren't even given that chance.

It also bugs me that today on the news a guy who got shot was touted as a hero. I'm glad he lived-- don't get me wrong. But, to me, it seems like a "hero" would be someone that stopped them from shooting more people-- not someone who got away.

I always sound so jaded and heartless, so I usually don't say what I'm thinking, but fuck... people died.

Never happened. Yahoo news did a really good article on the myths surrounding the event. It's a good read if you can still find it up.

to be clear, it did happen, just not with the girl that they said it did...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbine_ ... y_massacre

Official reports state that Harris then walked over to the table across from the lower computer row, slapped the top twice with his hand, knelt down, and said "peek-a-boo" before shooting Cassie Bernall in the head. The recoil from the weapon hit his face, breaking his nose. Although it is popularly believed that Bernall was the individual who was asked "Do you believe in God?", it is debated if the exchange actually happened with Klebold and surviving student Valeen Schnurr....
...Schnurr, who had been hurt badly, began to cry out at that point, "Oh, God help me!" Klebold went back to her and asked her if she believed in God. She floundered in her answer, saying no and then yes, trying to get the answer right. He asked her why; she said it was because it was what her family believed. He taunted her then walked away. This incident eventually led to the Cassie Bernall controversy, as some believe the eyewitnesses who continue to back the Bernall claim may have wrongfully attributed the Schnurr/Klebold remark to Bernall due to possible similarities in voice and appearance.
