1) what's the story with the name donner party? just curious
2) can you explain a little the difference between the donner party and bad mother fuzzer? i'm a sucker for one knob fuzzes...
The Donner Party was named for the group of pioneers - known as the Donner Party. They became stranded in a mountain pass due to an early snow, and as food supplies ran out, they allegedly resorted to cannibalism. When I designed the pedal I didn't have a name in mind. So when I plugged it in, and heard just how incredibly heavy it was, I knew it had to get a name with something as awesome as a cannibal reference.

Here's a bit more info on the actual Donner Party: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Donner_Party
As for the difference between the BMF and Donner Party, the Bad Mother Fuzzer is a more tame, kind of classic fuzz. It's still good and fuzzy, but it's pretty much an "all situations" type fuzz.
The Donner Party, on the other hand, is over the top, and has a sort of "end of the world" type sound. It's massive, has a TON of gain, and will occasionally get hints of sub and upper octaves. That being said, it's not so out of control that you can't use it often. I personally love using it into a heavy reverb for shoegaze tones.
Both are great and really usable fuzzes, and I'd highly recommend them both - it just depends on what you're looking for sound-wise.
