I don't have any vintage fuzz right now, but I've had a few that have come and gone. What are you fav's? Post anything and everything related to the topic. I know we've got some pretty educated fuzz heads around here.
Mine was an '85 Whiteface Rat. I'd love to get that one again. I got it for like $65 at a pawnshop.
I has a old Elk Fuzz Wau that is basically a superfuzz, it rocks, I also just love superfuzz variants in general. My main fuzz is a modded clone or a superfuzz markIII by Katana Sound

It's like a different flavor pissed off fz-1a, it also runs on 1 AA like the maestro. It's a pain in the ass to use though, there's no input jack...the plug is built in.

Pretty sure that's an Ibanez Standard Fuzz, not a SuperFuzz (although they're related).

Ok first what does it sound like? This is a question I have been wondering about for a few years and why I finally just got up and got one. It sounds like a supperfuzz. ... The down side for picky, whiny prima donnas that miss out on great tones due to them being whiny prima donnas: Battery only [hey it's from the 70's] It is big [hey it's from the 70's] It is not true-bypass [hey it's from the 70's] The treadle doesn't stay where you leave it [I'm going to fix this]
The fuzz in those is very similar to a Superfuzz, only somehting like a diode or two out of place between the two. They sound great. The wah, not so much -- I never did like those 70s Japanese transformer wahs. But, stock, it should be true bypass -- all the old Ibanez stuff was. Check the switch again. Way ahead of their time. The treadle's a pretty easy fix -- I thnk there's a strap under there and a screw -- tighten that and you're golden.
