Help with mah amp!
So my amp 'broke' about two months ago, unexpectedly. The tubes weren't lighting up by the standby light would go on when I flicked the switch. I've been playing a crappy solid state since then, since I can't really afford jack shit, no amp techs or pedals or nuthin. I plugged in just for the heck of it tonight and boom: it works. It may be that I'm so not used to playing, but it sounds very bass-y, almost mucky. This has happened before though when I haven't played a tube amp for a while. It still sounds sexy as all hell, but its those lower 5th chords and what not that lose definition. So I ask you: should I leave it as be, or should I still take it to a tech?

Re: New amplifier predicament
Try putting in new tubes???
The whole fact that it stopped working then started again is confusing though. My friend had a similar thing happen though it hasn't started working again. I'm still trying to convince him that it's just the tubes that is the problem.

Re: New amplifier predicament
I changed the tubes about a week before it broke down lol. I'd say tell your friend to just plug in and try at random points like I did and hope for the best. Or if he isn't a bum like me he can take it to a tech

Yeah, an experienced tech should be involved, this much is clear.

Now it's not working again. Fuck this, I'm going to a tech, looks like a new trem is even farther away now.

Let it be known, that it's from some other forum posted by a person who goes by Juri. He posts on HCFX, too.
But, yeah, I thought the same thing as everyone else here and saved it too. Sharing the knowledge.
