Anyone use the Green Rhino on bass? Plus other OD questions

Post by jrmy »

I need an overdrive. A somewhat clang-y, angry, buzzy overdrive that's just short of fuzz and doesn't lose a ton of low end, but maybe tightens up the bottom overall, and still plays nice with chords... on bass...

Oh, and that whole "amp-like feel" thing would be a plus, too.

So, yeah. Green Rhino? Rusty Box? Fuck?

I am so confoosed...

The Elements does that or at least can shape the tone your are looking for and more, I highly recommend it. I have a McSpunkle Mini Gnome that made a nice buzzy overdrive.

Ben, Eric and few others will not deny the awesomeness that is the Rusty Box! I have also hear good things about a Green Rhino over at TB and you could find one for hella cheep.

Again not too be all over Ryan's shit but I love how versatile the Elements is. You can shape just about any overdrive tone that you want.

Rusty box all the way!

Also, things I wanna try and seem to be in the same ballpark:
TC Dark Matter
Turbo Rat (with a cap mod to lose the low end cut)
Tech 21 Oxford
Darkglass B3K
FEA DBD

Good luck with finding a bass overdrive that plays nice with chords.

Catalinbread SFT is pretty boss, as has been mentioned much in the Catalinbread haters thread.
Maybe partying will help.

No, I totally agree. I just love seeing a pedal suggested, and you just know that the person didn't actually "read" the OP. Not saying that happens with the Fuck, but it did seem like an opportune time to bring up ILF's OD Poster-child whether it was relevant or not. After all it has been suggested in every sing OD thread since it's release. Don't want to end the streak. hehe.
