Pretty big fan of Catalinbread pedals here, I've got five.

Fortunately I bought them before they went and fucked up their graphics.

I've noticed a few of the Portland pedal builders are pretty standoffish/combative online. I thought things were supposed to be laid back there, maaaan.

But anyway, I dug the v2 WIIO and DLS I had, but they moved onto more loving homes a long while ago. They still have a couple pedals I'd like to try someday (Perseus for sure).
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

Good point that they seem to cater to a more experimental crowd. I imagine that the Montavillian could be perfect for someone else... And I still havn't tried the SFT, that one could be awesome. It may have been impulsive to bash their entire line, but I am frustrated that I'm exchanging yet another Catalinbread. Thanks for letting me vent :)

PumpkinPieces wrote:In my mind their a pedal line that creates pedals that emulate classic tones but try to sound experimental just by putting oscillation in a pedal. That and if I played in a different kind of band/different kind of music I'd definitely check out a Teaser Stallion. :omg:

I had the teaser for a little while, but it didn't wow me with its virtues for experimentation - i want more than oscillation. For the modern experimenters, which I consider the ilovefuzz crowd to fit into that camp, I just don't think the cbread line goes far enough into experimental territory, but I do agree that it does add an extra dimension for those classic minded players.

I've had...

DLS MkI - good
DLS MkII - great
WIIO v.1 - good, weird
SFT - great
Formula 5 - good
Semaphone - meh
CB30 - meh
Manx - great
Merkin - great

Still have those last two. None of them flat-out sucked.

That's pretty uncool. I won't buy new because of it.

That was pretty fucking lame especially considering it was such old news between those guys by then. Also, Nic had the Manx to promote at the time so his appearance didn't seem very genuine.

But hey, I know another builder that spams far worse....

There's quite a few.
Builder drama. <3
Also, ten bucks says he shows up and bitches about this thread.
Any takers?

I'm in, and commented here so I can wait for him to NOT show up!

Also: I have not real issues with catalinbread, never owned any of the pedals nothing other than the pereodelia (SP??) ever jumped out at me as awesome.

I don't know that they make anything that EQD doesn't already have a better version of.

Never had any real desire to try most of their pedals.

But I've had periods of really GASing for a WIIO and a Pareidolia

Man, no kidding - I do not dig the new designs at all.

I love the Semaphore, it is one useful, compact trem. The SCOD is a solid OD, and was a breath of fresh air when it first hit the market. I still want to try out the SFT on bass, and the Formula No. 5 to see if I can cop some Neil Young toanz. And the Pareidolia looks interesting too.

I would also like to know this. I love my Mk.1 and have no real desire to upgrade it, but you never know...
