Re: Your Favorite Drummers
Roy Haynes - one of my all time favorite jazz drummers. definition of free groove. his session work is amazing
Sam Meister - drummer for mr. Gnome his drumming on their EPs and first album is awesome and unique rock drumming at its finest
John Hollenbeck - not only perhaps the jazz genius for the modern era, but a total master of drums at all tempos and time signatures with ludicrous fluidity and an ability to shift between signatures and larger blocks of rhythm while still retaining a cool groove
Zach Hill - totally unique sound and a powerful style
Ches Smith - cool contemplative work with everyone from Xiu Xiu to Mark Ribot
Bill Bruford - self explanitory. y'all know him well enough
Keith Moon - one of the pinnacles of rock drumming
Vinnie Caliouta - fucking chameleon of style while still retaining his unique sort of flavor
Hans Benninck - probably the only drummer i'd describe as "fun" and not because he played on a drum set made out of cheese.
Steve Gadd - king of fills.

but hey, being in a shitty band doesn't make you a shitty drummer.
Even if they did kill an entire genre.
