Oh, sorry man. I misunderstood what you were saying.

I think Les Pauls without binding look atrocious.

Confession: Under certain circumstances, I love scooped-mids and hate the fact that it's unusable in a band setting.

I'd say that anything can sound cool in the correct context.

Confession: I really don't know anything about EQing, other than the fact that more mids = more stand-out typically.

Confession: Scooped mids are my enemy although at times I wonder if the settings I generally use end up boring because it's so bass and mid-heavy.
But again I frequently have "off" days and at other times I'm like "fuck yeah, that sounds so goooood".

Also, I don't like block inlays on maple necks. I think black on maple looks really weird.

My general setting is basically "MOAR MIDS". I just fool around sometimes and go,"huh, that's not bad."

I know what you mean. It is nice sometimes.
To me it almost feels dirty, I've been conditioned for mids at all times...so it's just a transient "oh, cool" thing.

I turn up my mids due to people [drummers] saying that I need more note definition... because if I have it my way I crank the lows and turn on the deep switch...

In my covers band, I play with my mids cranked, because my guitarist always scoops the hell out of his signal, so mids are the only place I can punch through.

i just find the setting on the amp where the top and bottom strings and the high and low notes are balanced. that usually means lots of bass--like all the way up--and the treble and mids at about 5 or 6. i'd like more mids, but extra mids obscure the bottom two strings for me without the ability to bring up the bass or more speakers to project the bass. i really need a 4x12 or 2x15 cabinet.

I would also like to try something other than my Hartke 410. My friend has a GK combo that just uses a 115 and I thought it sounded surprisingly good. I've been thinking for a while now that my cab could be the thing HOLDIN' ME DOWN, MAAAAaaaan.
Speaking of that, I am intimidated by my friend's guitar skill.
"What kinda stuff do you want to play?"
"Uhhhh..."
I don't know, I never make songs or anything although maybe I should if only as an exercise. I tend to just make super fuzzy drony things...but nothing that is much of a technical challenge.
