Ongoing guitar project thread. UPDATE 4/22
EDIT: This is now an ongoing thread for this project. pictures as they come!
I have a pretty ugly Silvertone Revolver (strat rip-off) that I want to breathe some life into. I have pretty well settled on a tortoiseshell pickguard and 3 p-90 soapbar pickups from mighty mite. From the reviews i guess they are pretty decent sounding, but they hum a lot. Which is okay by me. I am also going to trim it down a bit to look less strat-like and more cyclone/jazzmasteresque. (see last image) I want to totally strip and repaint this thing, but i have no idea what color. Well actually I have about 13 ideas. Which do you like the best? Also, I want to use the knobs pictured after the guitars. Suggest a knob/switchcap color to add if you like. THANKS FOR THE HELP!
All in all, i hope this costs me under $100. ($20 spray paint/clear coat LOCAL; $45 for three mighty mite p-90s EBAY; $20 uncut tortoiseshell rectangle EBAY; $5 knobs/switch cap SMALLBEARELECTRIC). My wife has all the tools I'll need (she's a carpenter) and my friend whose into electronics is going to show me the ropes of soldering. I also have plenty of cats available.
here is the very big image, open it up and get a good look:

#1 was my initial thought and so far, it looks to be popular. The headstock has the silvertone logo on black right now, which i kinda like, but i was considering doing matching headstock. Still gotta get my wife's input though, and she counts double

We are officially into work in progress stage. taking everything apart. EVERYTHING is filthy or rusty or warped. and dinged or chipped. Can't find the camera... Oh well, suffice to say it is UGLY.
Still have not decided on a color... my wife likes 8 and 10, which seems to make a pretty even split between 1, 12, and 8/9 (I didn't really need to put both as options.) and I have decided I WILL do matching headstock, the one on it right now is too gross. Anyone else have any opinions before i get to paint buying stage? Still have to unsolder a couple contacts so I can strip the current filth. then i need to reshape and then start painting.

#1. Have you considered white pearloid instead of tort? You could also do a loud disgusting sunburst with 1 and 10.

Re: Ongoing guitar project thread. Input appreciated.
just wanted to let everyone know i am working on this and taking plenty of pictures. I just can't find my upload cable so it will be a while before i post the WIP. I am more or less done stripping the finish at this point, and am planning on cutting into the thing today. The shape i guess is going to be pretty jazzmasterish, slightly more so than what i posted in the first picture.
People's color choices thus far: (Factors in input from non-forum sources)
1- 7
8/9- 4
10- 1
12- 3
13- 1
I had considered pearloid, but i just really like how the tort compliments the cream of the pickups and matches the dark fretboard. I also like how it looks against these colors. As for a burst, I don't think it is within my ability or desire to do.
Wish me luck with the saw today!
