They're pretty great if you play an 11lb bass. Otherwise the 2.5" straps are just as nice.

Wow, those straps cost 75 bucks? Damn yo. I never felt the need to try anything beyond the bargain bin specials.
There really is boutique everything now, isn't there?

No, a PAIR will cost anywhere from $60 to $75, depending on size and materials. They usually run at least one BOGO special at any given time. IIRC, my two 4" straps were $65+shipping.

Re: How to spot/flame Talkbass trolls and Behndy's Baking Ti
Check the "On Sale Now" tab on the Italia website.
http://italiastraps.com/new-sale-page.htm
BOGO sale. Even if you only need one,....put the other one up on craigslist for a competitive price (I think $40 for such a nice strap is reasonable) and recoup some of your moneys.
I agree that $75 for one strap is steep,...but for two isn't bad. That equals out to about $37.50 which in my experience is actually cheaper than 4" wide straps from the more mainstream makers (IE: Levy's ~$50). If I was just looking for a strap for a lightweight instrument,...any ole strap would do,...but I wanted a nice wide strap to distribute more of the weight of my Warwick (which is a pretty heavy bass) on my shoulder and options for 4" wide straps are few.
Doing a google search for 4" wide guitar straps turned up a Moody's leather strap for $160 (at Guitar Center). Compared to that Italia Straps are a bargain (even for just one).
As far as being a "boutique" strap company; that's a good thing isn't it?
I contacted Italia via email to clear up some confusion in the ordering process and they responded quickly (a matter of emailed on Friday, responded by Monday). The sort of service we almost expect from the booteek pedal builders (and often times why we choose them over the big guys).
My only gripes with Italia are; I should have gotten the longer strap which is a few bucks more (sometimes I like to sling my instrument a little low, but not really that crucial), and such a wide strap isn't as aesthetically pleasing as a 2.5 inch wide strap. But that's more just personal preference and placing an importance on form,...when functionality is the deciding factor. Not really Italia's fault on either of those.

Re: How to spot/flame Talkbass trolls and Behndy's Baking Ti
The Black on Blacks are pretty plain jane but they do do some beautiful work on the other colors. (That sounds strangely racist)
The Acorn, Chocolate and Wine colorways are classy.
Also,...I'm a little meh on putting a $5 strap on a $1500 instrument. Kinda cheapens it a little bit. But to each his own YMMV,....Ping Pong is awesome,....ETC ETC ETC.
Hell,...I'll probably pick up a 2.5" wide Italia strap or two once I get my Tele Deluxe RI in my hands.

Gotcha, I only saw the main part where it says $75 each. Either way, I'm a cheapie about shit like that, and I play cheapie basses, too, so at least I'm consistent. Not crazy about the 4-inchers, either. Totally an aesthetic thing. I think they look like weight-lifting belts.
