Depends. I had one. Sold it.

If it's gonna be your first flanger then it's not too bad.

I'm a flanger fan and own a bunch of 'em. Not really a fan of chorus.

Also not really a fan of pedals that try to do more than one thing and don't succeed at doing any of them well. I found the controls really limiting and difficult to use. The sounds I was able to get out of it were pretty tame. A fairly pedestrian pedal.

Lemme know if you have any more specific questions.

As far as its flanging capabilities and its stereo applications its not versatile then?

Well, the reason I bought it was because it's a stereo pedal and I didn't have a stereo flanger. Not all flangers are created equal. I think it's pretty mild sounding as far as flangers go. I like flangers than can do extreme sounding stuff as well as the more subtle stuff. If it had been a better sounding flanger I might have kept it, but just keeping it because it's stereo didn't really seem like a great idea. It just wasn't as flexible as I wanted it to be. It's a pretty limited pedal. I'm still looking for a stereo flanger. I've been eyeing the TC Electronic Vortex. I've watched some of the YouTube clips. IDK. Doesn't sound too bad.

Do you have any other flangers?

What sort of versatility are you looking for?

What type of music are you playing?

What do you want the flanger to be able to do?

I have one, I bought from Jwar, it's amazing, I really like the stereo sound, but you really have to stand back about 10 feet to really hear it. Both the chorus and flanger are really awesome, especially in filter matrix mode. I think that they are better than teh big box version, because, duh, it's smaller, so on a pedal board (for me anyway) that's the way to go. But it's all about what sounds good to you, also the price difference is marginal so, it really is up to you. :thumb:

I just re-watched the old PGS demo. Andy made it sound pretty good, but his demos usually sound good. Some of the other demos sound alright too. So, again, it depends what you want out of it. It may be adequate. It's a pretty basic flanger. Not as many control parameters as some other flangers.

I was a bit disappointed with the Filter Matrix Mode. I would have rather had a separate knob or switch to activate it.

+1000

that was the most disappointing thing about the pedal... otherwise it was pretty cool.

There is one on my local CL for $50. I might have to try this guy out. Is the pedal noisy?

Yeah, I don't remember it being especially noisy and for $50 you can't really go wrong.

Man, I completely disagree with you guys. I fucking love my SEM, and it definitely isn't my first flanger (I've had a dozen, at least). I mean yeah, they could have come up with a more intuitive way of switching on filter matrix, but that's a minor quibble. And I disagree that it sounds tame. If you crank the flanger depth all the way up, it completely obliterates your guitar signal, and sounds like ball bearings rolling down a drain pipe. I actually think the old vintage mistress is a LOT tamer. I don't really use the chorus on it all that much, but I like using it for the wacked out flanger and the filter matrix.

:idk: I dig it.
