Yeah, I ONLY listened to classic rock before I heard Neighborhood #3. OK Computer(Radiohead), Homework(Daft Punk), Elephant(The White Stripes) and The Information(Beck) came next and I went every which-way from there.

Weezer - Pinkerton. At the time I listened to pop-punk like green day or whatever, crappy nu-metal bands, muse and not that much else. Pinkerton BLEW MY MINDHOLE. It's not like it's really revolutionary in any real sense, like they did something new or anything, but the loose playing/singing, the unconventional chord progressions and key changes, the uniformly great songwriting and how it just works as an album completely changed my view/approach of music. It's still one of my favourite albums and it still inspires me to be better.
Other stuff has done that since as my taste expands outwards, but that's the one where I can really remember the feeling of listening to it the first time and this feeling just hitting me.

Opened me up to so much music. Also, allowed me to truly realize the limits of what can be done within the confines of a regular band set-up. The music I listened to before, and the stuff I listen to after are pretty drastically different.

& (I picked them up at roughly the same time so, I don't know which one to credit more) Before these two I pretty much didn't listen to anything below 180bpm with a clean guitar in the mix. Now I play shoegaze-y stuff almost exclusively.
