Re: The what ever thread...
when i look at the Teles again, i realize that one reason i like the blue one is that it reminds me of my Tele which is medium ("Electron") blue and has a pearloid pickguard and rosewood fingerboard. the green guitar needs a tortoise pickguard for best effect. the only one that really doesn't work for me is the last one, where the lack of color really reveals the inconsistency of the multi-piece body. the spalted veneer on the top guitar makes for the best visual effect, though i personally abominate spalted tops.

I just caught a random episode of Bleach on tv and they were all running around the beach, making sand castles. What happened with that show?

I remember that Colbert clip when it aired. SOOOOOO funny. Don't think I've ever seen him break that much.

It started being terrible after season 1 i stopped around the time the soul society arc was finishing up.
Yeah, they started throwing in stupid filler episodes. And then stupid filler arcs...

I stopped watching when they got licensed shortly after the return to the material world, so... yeah.
Filler is the death of a series, for me.

Re: The what ever thread...
Ingrained serial structure, the detrimental problem with anime.
Not dissing on anime. It's just that when a show becomes too much about the greater picture it starts to lose the little details that people love in the first place.
If you want to see an extreme example, watch any daytime soap opera, a series of disconnected scenes with seemingly little action, unidentifiable characters, and scenes that a narrative which is so convoluted, you're not sure it even exists.
Of course most anime come from a manga background where they are competing to stay as a part of the publication each month. So they constantly need to give you those melodramatic "What WILL happen?" cliffhangers.
That's personally why I like FLCL and Afro Samurai than other anime. They both had brief, defined story arcs as well as interesting episode by episode action.
