What about sigur ros?

Post by V0id »

I think they are an incredible band. Walls of pure noise and distortion and yet beautiful and .... landscapish, scandinavian landscapish.
What do you think about them?

I've never really listened much. What's a good song that would be easy to find on the interwebs? (youtube, myspace, etc... I don't do torrents and the like)

I hate to use the word, but they are an "Epic" band. Not in the lame "epic fail, win etc." sense, but in a "Never Ending Story" sense.

Yeah Ageatis Byrjun and ( ) as well as some of Takk contain some of the most beautiful and emotionally driven music I've ever heard. I was disappointed with how poppy and immediate the new one was though. There's a couple good ones, but most of it was Sigur Ros does pop kinda stuff. Albeit it is still better than 99% of radio pop, just not even close to the same level as the others. I love them though.

Edit: And oh for the record Saeglopur is one of their weaker songs in my opinion. Never understood why that one stands out on Takk especially above Milano and Gong.

I didn't realize that second video was sigur ros. I watched it once maybe two years ago. I'm all for their music, but I don't think I could get into it at my current point.....in ?music? if that makes sense.

I honestly love when music has a vague yet specific meaning story line (really though, movies shouldn't have dialogue sometimes), is "epic" and all sorts of magical mystery surrounding it. For me it totally takes over my body and a wave of good feelings arise. Quite powerful. But right now I feel I have to work with simplistic music, just in logic of "well if I can make simple music i can keep building and eventually make something big and complex and meaningful."

I'm definitely going to revisit sigur ros when I'm ready though.

Sigur Ros are pretty cool I totally agree. They always make me think of an innocent version of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Which is quite a beautiful thing
