Someone asked me recently about my first exposure to music that made me think there was, you know, "other" shit out there.
My mom bought this for me at my behest when I was (I think) twelve; I was a trumpet player first, and she was heavily invested in encouraging my non-rock leanings. Didn't really work out.
You ever listen to something that totally destroyed everything you thought you knew?
Sixteen Stone was kind of like this too, I guess.

I probably find one album a year that really expands what I think about music. I actually heard a lot of albums when I was a kid that should have blown my mind wide open, but it wasn't until after hearing a mix of albums by Tool, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Dream Theater, that I had my "revelation."

I heard Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band when I was 8 and it dominated my life until I was 11 and discovered the Sex Pistols.
