I'm ready for this stupid semester to be over. I hate trying to balance work and school, feels like I'm always behind on both of them. Plus, school means less work hours, means less money. And with the wife's crazy teeth problems this month, it's gonna be a little tight for a bit. Sigh.

so this is my town, friggen morons, worst disaster in years and everyone quits or gets fired

FEMA Sucks
NY Sucks

none of this story even covers that mass QTY of people that will have to move because homes were destroyed.

I hate to say it, but I think the east coast has used up all it's storm sympathy cred. Now everybody's all, " :whateva: What? Another storm or flood or some bullshit? Haven't they figured out how to make things stronger yet?" I mean, in the midwest we've had like one bridge collapse and one town flood in the last ~20 years :idk: . And we get fucking blizzards all the fucking time, but you know what? we don't bitch about it.

I don't want to sound like a cold insensitive bastard, but I am. I think someone should help these people, I just don't think this kind of shit is always newsworthy unless it's super local small town paper kind of stuff.

Woah, there's a Maine, New York.
Mind=blown.

Southern VT got totally fucked by Irene, too, and there's been remarkably little coverage (or FEMA aid) of that.

Playing's horrible today, like this is the first time I've ever touched a bass. Timing is nonexistent. At least the actual bass sound is good.
I don't feel inspired or motivated at all, and I think a lot of it has to due with me not getting enough sleep this past week. Also, it's annoying that I'm so easily affected by lack of sleep. It really changes everything around.

I forgot to do an assignment, and now I'm listening to people ask the same horrendously specific questions. Most of them the same questions repeated over and over again.

I'm dropping half my classes and maybe taking a sabbatical for the rest of the year if things don't get better. I just can't make myself do the work anymore. I hate my major, but I've never really found any subject particularly interesting, so I don't have any idea what I would even switch to. I've always done really well in school because, well, it's just what you do, right? Do well in school, go to a good college, get a good job, and then you're happy and everything is ok. Except if you do really well in school without ever really thinking about why, you end up at a really good college where things are hard and your classes aren't chosen for you, and if you don't have any passion for what you're doing, it wears you out pretty quick and then you're fucked as soon as you start to lag behind. I really wouldn't mind the work if it were interesting, but really, nothing is exciting anymore. Pretty depressed right now. I live on the other side of the country from where I go to college, so I'd be leaving all my friends and my girlfriend behind, maybe even permanently.

Major in music perhaps? Or business. The good thing about business is it can be applied to anything.

As much as it sucks leaving people behind, I think it's better to go away to college. The people I know that went to local colleges are like exactly the same as when I left them back in 2005. It's like disturbing how they haven't changed like at all, and haven't matured nearly as much as I think they should have.

I currently go to a tech college, so music isn't an option and I'm pretty sure we only really have a business minor. I've also never really considered myself that creative a person, and I'm very introverted, so with those combined, I doubt I would ever go anywhere in music. I'd also be very hesitant to become a music major in today's economy. And sure, business can be applied to lots of things, but no one goes into business because it's something they're passionate about, you know? I guess I really just want to find a field that I love/go in a direction where I'll be doing something that matters. I see people around me who are super excited about their lab work or who build holography projects and particle accelerators just for the hell of it, and wish I had that kind of interest in things.

I totally agree, it's not the people at home I'd be missing, it's the people at the college I'm at now who I'd be leaving behind if I dropped out or transferred. I'm really bad at keeping up with people; I have little contact with people back home as it is now. I just don't want my inability to focus on schoolwork to wreck the relationships that I have currently.

Been there. Consider taking a year off to work a shitty low-paying job at a gas station or something. Then your whole way of treating college will be changed. It worked for me. If you're like me(and I'm pretty introverted too), you'll actually start to want to be much more involved in class discussions, etc.

If i woke up at 5 and someone pulled that shit i would be pretty miffed. Ask them to show up at some random time and just don't show but keep calling to say you are like 5 minutes away for an hour or two.

it happens alot
its fine when im getting paid they can be late i still get paid
still hate that people take advantage of my good nature stealing my studio gear, wasting mine and my friends time
we do it cause we legit on hands and knees for music and yet no one else does apparently? its corny i know

Free studio time? Screw that! They should be there early with donuts. And beer! That's Australian for breakfast, right? :thumb:
