Re: SS/BS tourbox
Maaaaaaaan, those days flew by! I didn't get as much time to actually play them as I'd have liked, but any time is good time.
I didn't get a demo either...although I murdered a Smiths bassline with all of them on at once and then didn't save it
But all in all, good fun indeed.
The Year4545 is insane. I thought maybe it had a faulty switch when I first tried to use it. This seems like something you'd have to tinker with for a while to understand how the controls interact with each other. I think the best description for it is "sell your Wolf Computer"...seriously nuts. The gate switch just makes it crazier in a different way, like it has two personalities and both of them enjoy heavy doses of PCP.
You can get some fairly "normal" fuzzed out sounds with it though, but how long a single sound can be held onto is questionable. I couldn't fully explore the pedal, but it doesn't seem as bassy as the others.
I'm still warming up to gated fuzzes, so I wasn't sure about how useful the gate on the TAFM would be for me, but I like it. If I had to pay extra for this mod, sure, no problem. Makes it more...synthy sounding, I guess? Doesn't suck any of the low end out but it does change the character of the sound and you can tweak it from there. I like it, it's very usable. Plus it gets really loud.
To be honest, I spent less time with the Sparkle Motion than the others. It might be my setup or my taste, but I'm not sure if I would use this on bass too much. I was pleasantly surprised with how the switch interacts with the EQ. It boosts the high end without sucking the lows away...but to me that just added "clank". However, I used it with the twin-mudbucker bass and it was great! It really added some liveliness to the sound. I think this would be a useful pedal for stacking.
I am definitely buying a Fuck OD. It's the shit! It lives up to the hype...I LURV the burst switch and its two toggles. No problem at all with bass.
I gotta go to class, and I'll send the box on after I get back, but a huge thanks to Brian and Bellyheart! This has been a great opportunity to mess with some sweet-ass pedals!
edit: The White Fritter is also pretty out-there...you get some weird sounds out of it, for sure. I especially like the ascending/descending computery-sounding thing. I have no idea how I'd use it as anything other than a weird noisemaker though. It seems to "work" better with high notes, as in you can hear those a little more clearly. I haven't heard anything like it before, pretty unique

The tracker hasn't updated, but unless you're sending something across the country, you'll get the item before it does anyway...

Re: SS/BS tourbox
Got the package last night! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! I love the look of ALL SS/BS pedals.
Right away I plugged into the Fuck and Sparkle Motion. I could rely on these two pedals alone for all of my non-fuzz dirt. The Fuckd really does blow away just about every overdrive I have ever owned(and eventually grew tired of).
More to come.....
