Fuck. The Elements and this are going to make me very poor.

Re: More pedal teasing... (the chorus of the cosmos)
I'm definitely gonna order the first proto pcb this week and I'll do a photo adventure of the first proto build. (I'm not counting the other first proto build from a few months back since it was such a debacle!)

Re: More pedal teasing... (the chorus of the cosmos)
Well, I definitely didn't order the proto pcbs yet.. but this weekend is a long one and I'm gonna make some CC progress!
I've got one change in mind to chat with you gents about... I want to take away the expression control for the clean blend and add something else.
Expression control for the clean blend in stereo ain't easy...it means having to make 4 LED/LDR pairs and so far, from my months of making the new Trem, I don't want to make any more LED/LDR pairs. They have to be matched to work best which means building them, measuring them, sorting them, and it takes forever. I don't want to do it even more with the new CC. I also don't want to use any kind of active device for the clean blend like a VCA or FETs as in my opinion that just adds distortion and/or noise and just like Captain Murphy's hair can't handle another perm, the wet signal can't handle any more processing. So I want to just use a plain old dual gang pot for the stereo mix and call it good. The pedal will have the Hold feature so you can still use your foot to affect the mix anyway and I think that's perfect.
But I still want to have lots of control over the pedal... so there will still be the exp input for the rate control and I think a CV input should be the other input. I came to this conclusion after experimenting with my GK3 and the new CC... when I set the CC's clock control to be driven by a CV input (from the GK3 LFO output) it really opens up a lot of cool possibilities for the pedal.
Using the GK3 as a CV input the new CC can be tap tempo, it can use any waveform fed into the jack including squares, ramps, sines, random, sequenced stuff, the user programmable waveforms of the GK3, and all of that stuff sounds really cool.
Further to this idea, I noticed I've got several pedals that can run off a CV (GK3, WMD Geiger Counter, Fairfield 4Eyes, Montreal Assembly WSoU, Moog filter) but the only thing I have that can output a CV for them is the GK3... so I'm thinking it could be very cool to make a little CV control box that had tap tempo and a bunch of waveform options. You'd plug it into your analog CC (or Tremolessence with a small mod) and be able to use all those extra features. (I'm hoping Austin, maker of the GK3, might be interested in collaborating on it but this is all just ponderings right now)
So whatcha think of that idea? Fair trade for a clean blend expression control jack?

That's my main gripe with the whole CV thing, gimme controllers! Just for the control box idea alone you are free to do whatever you want to the Ultimate CC, not that I don't dig what you seem to be doing with it.

yes a cv control box, with tap tempo, and selectable wave shapes needs to be made by someone. I fully support this idea.

Why not have a Manual expression control rather than Rate? Could be cool on a chorus.

I thought copilot was doing something similar...but that might just be a expression box. Do the cv box idea but extra outputs to sync the trem and chorus (and new sdd?) would be cool.

Why not having a switch selector to switch between rate and other control for the expression control?

Clean blend expression can eat a dick. Go for the CV!
Beat me to it... a toggle to switch between depth and rate for the other expression input? That would be neat.

Or maybe a knob (switcher) just like the Iron Ether FrantaBit.

This latest development is really fucking cool. I cannot wait to see the final product!
