You guys are fortunate. Every girl I've ever seen play or played with around here would be absolutely screwed without one.

Actually the last band I was in had a girl fronting it, and she was extra talented because she could play songs in G and C voicings.

I'm such a douche.

depending on how you play with a capo i'd say its not.

it makes shreddy stuff harder because you're so used to using dots as a marker, but if you go boy chord shapes, it just makes key irrelevant.

The girl I've played guitar with the most probably wouldn't know what to do if you handed her a capo.
You'd probably have to pry the screwdriver from her hand first though.

Actually thinking about it, it's not even girls. Just most people I've played with, when asked to play a song in a different key, will immediately get out a capo. I see the use of them if you're doing really intricate picking and things with open chords, or are looking for that kinda weird sound when they're really high up on the neck, but for just playing normal songs, it's not even that hard to play the same (G, C) voicings higher on the neck without a capo if you just think about it for a second.

i understand using a capo on electric because i made up a sequence of chords starting with a chord that's too stretched to play comfortably in the fifth position... so i can shift it by a capo to say... 9th, it¨s better :idk:

i mean i CAN play it, but it's kinda hard to play the whole sequence for more than one time

well, i can see it if you're using a lot of open strings for effect--i use that once in awhile for fingerpicking tunes that have to have, e.g., alternating bass--but if you're just playing regular chords you can't transpose from A to C?

nothing wrong with capos at all and it strikes me funny that anyone would suggest otherwise.
some people just want the voicing of the cowboy chords in diff keys.
personally, i'll do anything to make it easier to play my guitar parts. ..... i would rather people to notice my songs and not shitty guitar playing.

-high five-

I found that I basically always used a capo on the 2nd, 4th, or 5th fret, so I finally just tuned my guitar up a step. Should have done that a long time ago.

If you play any amount of open chords, capos are your bestest friend in the world. Playing barre chords or trying to use different open chords is just silly when you can just use a capo. :idk:

Also, I don't get why nobody ever tunes up. D :

Or why wound G strings [pause for snickering] aren't more common.
