I just scored one of these on Ebay for $200! Anyone else own or tried this one?

Yeah never tried one but definately want to know how it works. Especially the gate on it, looks like it has more control than a normal metal pedal gate.

Re: Rivera Metal Shaman
local dealer/importer asked me to come one day and test the thing, and say what I think and - we'll see - perhaps do a clinic sort of demo spot for their products.
Looking forward to do that.

I'd love to see your demo, Bassus.
hbomb, The gate was a huge selling point for me. A lot more versitile than the extreme gate on the Zvex BoM.
I'll let y'all know what I think when it arrives

Re: Rivera Metal Shaman
I got my Metal Shaman in the mail.
It's no holy grail, thats for sure. I was originally disapointed because of the EQ. I found it to be super harsh and too cocked-wah-ish at most midrange settings.
After some time, I found a setting with the highs almost all the way down and mid ~10:30 which tames the highs and softens the wah-ishness. So, not nearly as versitile as I imagined. The gate however is AWESOME. I think I'll hang on to it for a while just for that and see if it doesn't grow on me.
Anyone have any different experience with this model?

Haven't tried one yet but am saddened by the lack of good tones. Shouldn't be suprised, great amp builder doesn't always translate to great pedal builder.

Re: Rivera Metal Shaman
Mr.Excane! Great vids.
Funny, I just commented to you on youtube before I checked this forum...
Here's what I wrote:
"Great demo, thank you! I just got a Metal Shaman a few days ago. I found the pedal to be very harsh and have to keep highs near min. I'm kinda surprised this demo sounds as good as it does with highs near noon. Did you adjust your amp's high end to accomodate?
On mine, I also find the mids get cocked-wah-ish at certain settings. I eventually found a setting that works and I like it, but I'm curious if your experience is similar to mine?"
hbomb: I'm running thru a tiny tube amp, but it gets a good clean tone that most pedals like. Honestly, I'm liking it more and more. It just seems a bit finicky about its settings.

I did back off the highs on the amp slightly, but the key is really what amp you're running into. You need a super clean, high wattage, load of headroom amp. My upcoming vids will be done with my new Blackstar Artisan 100 which is probably the best pedal guitar amp I've come across. It just doesn't distort unless you crank the crap out of it. The EQ on the Shaman is ridiculously powerful, so yes - you have to be careful with the settings. The slightest adjustment will have a massive effect on the tone.

Re: Rivera Metal Shaman
Now that I've I've played the Metal Shaman for a month or so I have grown to really like it! What you said about the EQ is totally true, it's powerful. Therefore it doesn't sound great on every possible setting like a DOD250 might. I had to fiddle with it to get something I like but now that I have I think I can safely say it's the best metal pedal I've ever tried. I'm very glad I didn't get frustrated and return it
Cheers!

Cheers!

Re: Rivera Metal Shaman
looks expensive and huge, but it seems to nail every metal tone you could ask for. just not sure if i'd take it over the countless other high gain beast machines out there
