Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but nearly all Danelectros are Semi-hollow and usually have lipstick pickups. I have a 90's U2 and it's lovely. Granted there's no f-holes for that semi-hollow look... but yeah.

i don't quite understand why i'm such a bitch when it comes to purchasing something new... especially expensive... especially El Cap... considering not buying it at all and buying a simple analog echo plex homage instead

because rickenbacker makes Gibson seem reasonable and progressive with how little they change.

Because: They sound like shit, they feel like shit, they look like shit, they tear the shit out of your hands, they grind shitty groves in fretless fingerboards, all they are good for is making shitty scraping noises are far as I can tell and I keep cheap a shitty squire P with shitty roundwounds for doing just that type of shit.
Eh, rounds have their place. Personally I can't stand stainless steel rounds or otherwise noticeably bright strings though. I'm liking flats a lot more lately. Also, every guitar should be linear volume, audio tone
