Yeah... It's funny some of the things in this post... I use to live in Richmond... And now where I live now: Olympia Wa... the white Rasta thing is overly popular...
i find it fascinating how white people can take up something that explicitly states--repeatedly--that it's a "black man's religion." like, take a hint, honky? that's why i call it "cultural imperialism." and i say this as a Person of Pallor. i LOVE roots reggae. but Rastafarianism is not intended for me. if someone invites me to a grounation, i'll go, but i'm not going to intrude. one of the most offensive things i ever heard was when Patti Smith, in an interview at the time of Radio Ethiopia, said about Rastafarianism "it belongs to us now, too." well, no. no, it doesn't.

Yeah Or how about white pro feminist white Rastafarians... we have those too...
feminist Rasta...that may actually be more self-contradictory than "Indian Cavalry scout" or "Jewish Nazi." though not more self-contradictory than "gay Jewish Nazi."

Because I don't think this belongs in any other thread: one of my teachers said something very true and wise today- when you are young everything except school is important.. but as you get older you slowly realize that the important thing when you were young was school. Hmmm.. seems true to me... we shall see.
