the group that David Crosby toured with for his solo shows in the early 00s, comprised of himself, guitarist Jeff Pevar, and Crosby's son James Raymond on keyboards, was actually known as "CPR."

I was sad when I saw on Facebook today that Star Commander is dying or something. Then I remembered that Eccotone exists and was happy again.

re: Radiohead, the metric i've noticed among people on other forums that aren't necessarily modern rock people is that people who aren't depressive to some degree don't get Radiohead. i feel like In Rainbows in particular spoke to/for me as a 21st century human stuck in this landscape where everything and everybody is just...wrong...somehow, and to all the people for whom the Earth seems permanently tilted three or four degrees off proper axis. when that record was new on the market the woman who was leading a therapy group i was in heard me mention it and said "i keep hearing about that record from people." that doesn't mean you have to be nuts to like Radiohead...just that there's something about their work that speaks to us broken people.

I think that Kid A is absolutely brilliant and chilling. I never understood why some people had such a hard time with it, or needed it to "grow" on them. The very first note of "Everything in its Right Place" and I was hooked.

I used to be a massive radiohead fan when I was about 16. I mean I love depressive music but I find Radiohead's lyrics on their later albums in particular boorish and irrelevant. There was a few tracks on King of limbs that had a few interesting arrangements and musical idea. So in a sense I don't see the fuss about anything they did past say The Bends. I always felt other bands do what they do far, far better.

i find the HTTT material uneven, but the stuff i like i like a whole lot. i made a compilation disc of Amnesiac tracks/b-sides and HTTT selections that i love. "Where I End And You Begin" in particular kills me until i die from it. that sideways Can groove! the Head Rush looping on the coda!

I like a handful of the tracks. I also had the good fortune to see There There, Myxomatosis, and Wolf at the door live, which really brought them home for me.

I might be wrong (the live record) is pretty unimpeachable too.

If you're not counting disc two of In Rainbows then I like King of Limbs a whole lot more.

i'm really at a loss as to what to do about the gf/ex-gf situation. it's coming up on a month since she left. i'm really split between grieving the loss and being angry at the way i'm being dealt with. she totally won't communicate with me at all other than one-sentence e-mails or short conversations when she's come to pick stuff up from the house. i'm trying to be calm and take the high road, but i've really been left with a fucked-up situation. being confrontational is going to make things worse under any possible scenario, because it'd poison the situation and she can be quite vindictive when provoked; i'm going to have to press the point sometime because there are issues e.g. vehicles co-owned/insured which have to be settled. it's turned out to be the very thing i literally used to have nightmares about...me trying to talk to Kim and her refusing to hear anything i said. i really don't know what to do at all. at this point all i feel that i can do is let it sit until other stuff is sorted out and my situation here is more secure. i have the creepy feeling that she's sitting out there waiting for me to fail.
