So I'm in the market for a true-bypass delay pedal with a tap tempo feature. I'm basically just trying to get some options. I've done a bit of research and found that the EHMMw/H is pretty great sounding but I heard that it's not actually true bypass.. Any truth to that?
I mean, I'd live with a prosthetic strumming arm for the rest of my days for an Empress Superdelay but holy jeez is that expensive. And nobody's willing to trade an arm for an Empress... Any suggestions? I temporarily got my hands on a cheapo Boss DD-7, but it's not really workin for me. I like me some gorgeous, clean analog sounding delay.
Honestly the buffered bypass on the SMM/H wasn't noticeable to me at all. And I hate buffered bypass due ot hit totally fucks my fuzzes (especially boss buffer). I enjoyed mine a lot, but it's digital too, not analog. Don't know if that sinks your boat.
you could check out the Subdecay Echobox, or find a Used Earthquaker devices Disaster transport.

Well a digital delay with a good analog delay simulator is fine. I mean, the DD-7 has a decent analog setting where it mocks up an analog delay sound, but it does it digitally. I guess my search parameters contain true bypass, tap tempo, and a decent analog delay sound. Does the MMw/H have an analog delay setting? I can't seem to find an answer. Maybe it's just a Boss thing. I hate that damn thing, I've been trying to avoid Boss pedals since I started this silly pedal quest.
I think the SMMw/H is supposed to sound analog anyways. Mike Matthews said in an interview that it had a warm, analog sound. So I assume it was designed to sound analog.
Dunlop/MXR buffers fuck with my fuzzes... haven't had a boss pedal before one yet. The HOG doesn't hurt anything at all.... so +1 for EHX buffers.
Hmm. Yeah, EHX normally knows their stuff. I have a Stereo Pulsar, Small Stone, and a Big Muff that I circuit bent. I was completely addicted to EHX for a while there, so I put a lot of trust in them. I'll try out the Memory Man w/ Hazarai. Thanks dudes!
Depending on the quality of the arm I may be interested in trading my super delay.
SMMH isn't TB but has a pretty damn good buffer...nothing that messes with your tone or anything. My only complaint was the way it recalled presets and the fact that I spent a lot of time messing with knobs making up weird sounds instead of actually playing It's a great all in one pedal, not the most analog sounding, but the excellent looper makes up for that.

Would a buffered bypass mess with effects BEFORE it in the chain? When your signal goes through your fuzz, how does it know to get fucked up by something LATER in the line? I use a Boss TU-2 at the end of my chain and I think my Devi's behave like they're supposed to. Imma do some experimenting.
Seriously not trying to be a
Oh, about the delay. Nova Delay rocks but I'd rather have the Nova Repeater. Hindsight is a current events show with Barbara Walters.
