Big Muff Mod

So I've got an NYC Big Muff Pi that I initially was wanting to get rid of and replace with an EQD Hoof. I've used my friend's Hoof with my set up, and it sounds better and works better playing with my band (was able to dial in something that cuts through a lot better). I basically don't like that the Muff has no mid the way I currently play my set up. I use my head's gain for distortion (not too heavy, about 11 or Noon on my pre-gain) and the Muff seems to fall in with all the noise when playing live. The Hoof I borrowed seemed to handle the set up and live sound WAY better. I realize they're similar pedals, the Hoof appearing to have more flexibility.

My friend suggested I consider modding my muff before dropping dough on a whole new pedal. I took a look around and was trying to figure out what would be worth trying.

I thought this looked simple: http://guitarkitbuilder.com/content/big ... range-tone Just change out a few components to retrieve those mids. Would this be enough? Or would I really be looking into adding a mids control knob?

I'm sure this has been addressed before so links to other posts would be cool.

I do a similar mids mod on all of our grey staches. Creates a new monster! Dooooo iiiiiit!

Flat mids: R1=33k, C1=5.6n, R2=33k, C2=5.6n;

but I also like 47K and 10n for the lower center frequency. also the center frequency doesnt move as much when you go through the knob. flat mids on a BMP one knob tone stack is pretty much a shelving EQ that can look like a LPF or a HPF at fully CW and fully CCW settings.
