I loved the TP and always meant to get one, I only had it in a shoegazer and I wasn't a big fan of it combined.

My Seppuku Octave Drone kicks the Shoegazer I had to the curb and down the sewer.
Did you adjust your guitars tone and volume settings? That's a big part of it.
If you were running it after a buffered pedal that would kill it for you too. Buffers/active pickups change the make up of your signal and I notice you can't really get volume knob clean up with a buffer before a fuzz.
Just guitar-shoegazer-Handsome Devil or converted solid state head-1 or 2 1x12"s. Tried it with different guitars - from expensive hi output humbuckers to cheap single coils. Didn't change the TP fuzz much with volume roll off. It was kind of TORNSPEAKER FUZZ and nothing with the volume knob. The Cherry Pop I had was much better with roll off.

That's what I was hoping to get out of the TP side of the Shoegazer, and what I get to
levels with the Octave Drone.Might have to put a TP back on the want list, just as a single pedal with teh krazy noize switch.

That's what I've been using it for at least, but I mainly play a Tele. It's different, pretty compressed, fuller and less abrasive with a Les Paul, and has a lovely, squishy attack. More exciting with single coils to me though. It's pretty sensitive regarding what's in front of it. I was just thinking of trying to trade it for a low gain overdrive, cause I don't have one right now. I'd definately miss it though.
I mainly use a Tele also and Tele bridge pickup + TP = mah favorite toanzz. That sound just makes me happy.
I've been curious about trying an Aenima because I love the TP so much but the thing I really love about the TP is it's trebleyness and thin sound. If the Aenima gets rid of that then it might seem kinda meh to me. Or maybe it will just be another flavor of fuzzy love. Dunno that's why I need to try one.

Hmmm. Interesante
I'd be more inclined to build a switchable TP/AE from scratch rather than hack up my baby, but I have so many things I want to build right now! I WILL get around to it sometime though. The gate switch sounds like something I'd want to add as well. Thanks for the link!

I'm way late but the TP circuit was the first fuzz that clicked with me out of Devi's line. If you can grab one with the oscillation function, it's wonderful, especially for synths.

The AE can definitely get trebly and trashy if you keep the intensity knob most of the way down. But it does have a bit more beef to it at all settings than the TP. Intensity all the way up is a very thick, heavy, saturated Tool-ish tone (which I assume is why she named it the Aenima). It also feeds back like a bastard.

I had a SG for a while, and it fucking slayed balls. I used the SM side a LOT more (underrated pedal on bass IMO), but both together was something that was too aggressive and manly for me. the TP was something I'd use if I played guitar, or hated audiences and wanted their ears to end.
also, devi totally gave mine to me for free, one of my first posts on ILF was about that, thug life

I already tried that one. It didn't work.
The TP is way cool-- especially in the Shoegazer.

Sorry what? Your avatar is really distracting. It's kinda hypnotic.
I mean first I'm just checkin out that moustache, then I start lookin at that belly, and then all the sudden there's the tail just floppin around. Then it's back to the moustache. Oh what's that? You only have stripes on one side?

I think it's just perspective. The stripes are on his back and we're just viewing him from a slightly off-center angle, but if you when he jiggles a small part of his back comes around the right side of his body.
But hypnotic, yes, very much so. I can't tell you how long I've spent looking at that.
