70's univox superfuzz

Post by Boxbie »

I wanna cop this sound -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XG0L9XqinU

I'm concidering the MJM china fuzz (the loose side of this demo is pretty near the ballpark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JtJzBjrnoc),
the Black Cat Superfuzz (no good demos) and anything that you can recommend!

I really like the low octave grind. Any suggestions?

Ibanez Standard for sure, like Dev said. Or - I suppose - ANY brand fro the 70's that built super fuzz in that enclosure, there's a plenty of them.Mica, Apollo, Kent, Teisco... Check wikipedia for brand reference but don't be too disappointed if Your brand N.N. unit doesn't sound exactly like the thing, I've never got to check others than the Ibanez units plus one supposedly Ibanez.

or try Verellen Big Spider, which is cloned from the old Ibanez Standard Fuzz, so that, too. :poke:

Wow that demo was awesome. Now I want a Shin-Ei, an OCD, and a setup to record with my iPhone like that.
I make pedals. SHARK TANK

So I tried a few 70's oem superfuzzes, scored the mjm, and gotta say, as much as I wish I could handle it, 2 knobs and a scoop switch aint enough for me.
The scoop is too scooped, and I could use more dirt!
I think I'll hit up creepy fingers next.
To be continued.

Shameless plug-> i'm selling a heap of shit in buy/sell/trade atm. http://www.ilovefuzz.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=20218
