Check out this new pedal... (Sonic Crayon: Hollow Earth)

You hcfx forumites probably already know about this, but for those who don't, check it.
The Hollow Earth waveshaper/modulator thingy

From the creator:
"You know that feature the Goatkeeper has? Waveshaping? "design" your own LFO and then use that as a trem? Yeah, that. But a bit more!

Hold down the "record" pushbutton, "draw" out an LFO/envilope shape with the "shape" knob (it can be several seconds long), and release the button for it to start looping the shape and modulate the volume of whatever instrument you have plugged through it. AKA "tremolo". Push button agai nto design a new one. Or! Or toggle "punch-in" switch to edit the existing shape with whatever you feel! "smotheness" knob makes it smooth if the waveshape sampling feels a bit too steppy/aliased. It happens if you sample at a very slow tempo and keep it very slow. "speed" accelerates or decelerates the LFO. I forget what "volume" does.

Two LEDs on either side of the bypass switch (under the decals/finish). The one on the right follows your wave "drawing" as well as when it's looping. 'firmware upgradeable' "

Didn't want to have a wall o text...so my question:

How hard would something like this be to make? The guy who made the pedal doesn't really have a company, he just does it for himself.
On occasion he does small runs, but who knows what will happen with this.

I NEED this pedal...or something like it :thumb: Would be neat if one of the builders here could take it up (or put their spin on it) if Tape@hcfx never puts them into production

Check the original thread here for more info. http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2276793

Only negative I see is there's no way to save your wave-forms. :(

I think he's aiming for 10 presets on the final version...very much a work in progress.

the preset led's might get mounted under the paint/decal and will shine through the finish...he's done this on a few other pedals, really unique looking.

It makes me a little  that these aren't for sale, because I fell in love a little with the bit-crushery thing he had on his blog.

Sounds like he's serious about doing a run for this new pedal...can only hope.

He's adding more features and upgrading to a bigger enclosure...rumor has it he'd charge less than $200. Do want.

For the uninitiated, check out his blog to check out some of his other "experiments" http://soniccrayon.blogspot.com/

Sounds pretty cool, but that type of push / release button (record) is really crap, i use them a lot for my circuit bending projects and they break all the time. So i hope the final version will have a better quality press / release button (record). And i must admit that i like the Pitch Pirate from Mid-Fi Electronics better, but hey, that's just my opinion :omg:

Peace!

Interesting...my Cusack tap-a-whirl does some similar sounds, and then some.It is much more than the average trem-sequence pedal and it's worth checking out,if the guy doesn't make a bunch of these :idk:

Yeah I'm gonna be using a momentary stompswitch for record. Agree about the cheapness of those little buttons.

I've got random mode working, I can save a single preset, and I'm days away from being able to save up to 8 presets (with a LED number display). the code is there, but it's buggy and I can't figure it out.

after that, envilope trigger and exp. in/out is all that's left.

:omg:

yeah, triggered mode I think will really transform this into a very functional effect, considering how long and spacy you can make your waveforms.

shoot me a PM with your email if you want to be on an email list. its not first come first serve, but I'll let those on the list know when some are available.

around 190 clams US. I intend to release a batch in july. take a break for a month or two, then release some more.

design not final and doesnt have the art

Image

-the shape button is no longer a little button. it's the footswitch on the right.

-the speed, shape and smooth knobs and edit toggle switch work the same as they did in v1

-the knob/toggle combo on the far left is a pick/pluck/attack trigger mode. switch it on, and instead of looping the waveshape, it'll work as an envelope triggered by your picking/strumming.

-the bank knob, recall/store putton and LED digit display are for preset storing/recalling. you can save up to 10 waveshapes of any length and their accompanyign speeds (to banks 0 to 9) and it'll keep them indefinatelly, or untill overwritten.

-added the depth knob for master depth control

-added a random toggle. in this mode, no manual shaping is used or needed. it uses random noise instead, which can be adjusted still with the speed and shape knobs (as random frequency and random frequency drift).

-expression-in for shaping (replaces shape knob)

-expression out which works even when pedal is bypassed. so you can "shape" any other effect which accepts expression-in. delay feedback, delay time, pitch shifters, filters, etc
