yeah, what little I know of modern blues, it sure could use some dirty handed producers and visionary freak out musicians. Otherwise I'll stick to Robert Johnson and John Lee Hooker and the 60's - 70's blues rock jazz stuff.

Word brother, preach it!

I got flamed on another board for saying that Eric Clapton wasn't blues, he was blues inspired. To me, blues will always be that delta, swampy acoustic guitar with slide sound.

Joe Bonamassa and Clapton aren't blues, they're blues inspired, big difference
So this turned into another devi thread...

when people ask me if I like country I say "no" when really I mean yes but I know the question is being asked by people who dont know country but think they know country. I'm not gonna preach to someone who listens to a lot of country pop and loves it. they would flame the shit out of me since I dont listen to the same garbage. they say "well you dont even listen to garth brooks so you obviously dont know shit". I dont want to get into it with those people.

well its still country, its just shitty country.

and to be fair, at least Brad Paisley is country country. even if he's not singing about outlaws and stuff. and hes about as close to "one of us" as country gets with his empress and wamplers and dr. zs

Genre nitpicking aside, I have to say that Rory Gallagher and Peter Green can not be fucked with.

Anyone who doesn't like the original Fleetwood Mac doesn't like blues music. I'm sorry.

Never got into SRV, though. That kind of stuff bores me to tears.

Yes!
Rory was my introduction to the blues -- went to see him almost by accident when I was still a teenage metalhead and my world changed. He was a helluva performer and one of my favourite musicians ever.
Good deals done with all these guys
