nbabmf may have used a different IC in his than the one you have. for example it says lmc567. if you look on mouser or jameco you will see njm567d, lmc567cn (chinese generic), and lmc567 (national semiconductor)
the chinese version has CN at the end. check your IC.

Re: The Official Logan 5 Ring Mod build thread
I just built my Logan 5 and have been having a similar issue as nieh, except I only get that tone bleeding into my signal when the pedal is in bypass mode. It's at a fairly low volume, but loud enough to be annoying. Adjusting the frequency pot and the trim pot will change the pitch of this bleed through. It sounds like I would expect when the effect is engaged. Any thoughts on what could be wrong?nieh wrote:eatyourguitar wrote:Thats called carrier bleed. Good design and components can supress most of it but it will never be eliminated completely. Id have to check if its a real diode ring. If it is, you can use matched diodes. If its a pseudo ring mod then i reall dont know how to supress the carrier any more than it is. Part of the problem is that the oscillator is built in to the same ic. Its designed to be an easy build really thats why it is the way it is.

Mine doesn't make nearly that much noise. You can hear the whine/oscil. but it's hidden under the notes. In the video Nieh posted it's almost louder than the ring mod signal.
Could you post some pictures steve? What ic did you use?

The IC I was given with the kit is the lmc567cn I believe.Jero wrote:Mine doesn't make nearly that much noise. You can hear the whine/oscil. but it's hidden under the notes. In the video Nieh posted it's almost louder than the ring mod signal.

I don't have the exact same issues as nieh. The effect is definitely louder than the whine when it's engaged, my bigger concern is that the whine persists when the effect is in bypass. I will try to post some pictures when I can. Right now all I have is a mess of a cell phone picture that doesn't really show any details.

Okay...here's the pictures of the inside. I know all the leads are super long. This was my first build.

Jero, that's tidy. Mine looks like the kraken is going about his business in there.

Thanks, I was mostly noting that I didn't use any fancy wire or anything. I actually got that thin stuff from a busted toy keyboard.
