I've been a long time fan of the Horrors, well ever since thier first EP came out whenever that was. I have been anticipating some new stuff for a long time and now they released a new song that is not in any way The Horrors at all. Perhaps it might be good being released from a different band or under a side project but this new stuff is not "Horrors" music in any way. And Joshua's haircut? I just hope they play old stuff when I see them in May I am devastated. What does everyone else think of it?
I'm only two minutes or so in but I like it. It's surf/punk/ambient, pretty cool if you ask me. It's properly titled. And holy shit the synth at 3:50 is fucking daft punk esque. I don't know dude, you need to listen to it as a fan of music, not just the horrors. It's pretty sweet. Going from ambient surf punk to dream electronica is quite the accomplishment.
Kudos to them for sounding different. I love bands that fuck the mold.

Yeah, it's good, its just it's not the Horrors and there arent any other bands that sound like the Horrors around. If it were any other band Id probably love it.
There's still the first album. In my eyes I'd change my sound every album, I get the feeling it'd be boring doing the same sound....for the artist and the listener. I mean you don't want them to turn out like The Vines do you?

Well, I've only heard 2 of their songs in passing so I'm not too familiar with their stuff. "Sea Within a Sea" (the new one right?), and "She is the New Thing".
The latter song sounds so much like Jonathan Fire*Eater that I kind of just wrote them off as being way too into that band. I never gave them another listen until the new song.
I actually dig "Sea Within a Sea" a lot. It's pretty long, but I remember it having a lot of cool things going on to not get bored of it. Kind of like a gothy version of Yo La Tengo. I'm gonna look that song up again!

Well them and the Sonics and The Birthday Party come as close as anybody is but, it's kind of like they have to all be mixed together. Each one of those bands in themselves don't sound enough like The Horrors to properly quench a Horrors thirst.
Been waiting for this like more than a year but, it's way too weird just not what i was expecting. I fucking loved strange house and if you haven't seen their videos, GO!!
