The problem (and just speaking about amps and fx here, i don't hang around the guitar side) is very specific tastes.
The amp guys will tear you a new one if you don't play pointy guitars with active pickups through an engl/mesa/peavey and play heavy music. fx forum will shit on you if you don't play a jazzmaster/tele though a fender clean amp for post-rock-alternative-indie music Me? I like them all so I'm always out of place in both foums. Pedals are just more fun to talk about
Perhaps the forums should be split by musical tastes but that just opens up a whole other can of worms
