Anyone here ever own one of these?

I was talking about these with someone the other day. Interesting idea, guitar with replaceable FX modules.

I use to have an X-330. quite a nice guitar with a really chunky neck.quite heavy to. traded it a few years ago for a nice little amp. actually got to try it again a few weeks ago. still pretty but i cant stand humbuckers these days :)
I only had the overdrive cartridge in mine and it was kinda meh....
Long live the short lived...

I had one of these:

It was a super nice guitar actually. Great neck. Great player, and awesome sounding pickups with a very innovative pickup selection design. All kinds of sounds available just with that. The modular effects were ok, but nothing to write home about (especially for those of us with tons of pedals.) I think mine had a phaser and a distortion.

They used to pop up in shops around here in the 90's but I haven't seen one in the flesh in years.

Yeah definitely getting more scarce. There are Workingman's that pop up here on Craigslist from time to time. The Japanese made stuff seems to be pretty outstanding.

I own a LP one [part or one...]... didn't have the electronics when I got it and the head had been broken more then once... I think I got it for $60... I tried fixing it but all the old repairs had killed that neck... and no glue would hold very long... I loved the thing... I have played working one in stores and thought they were cool sounding. The FX aren't great but the whole idea is fun.

Kinda reminds me of Devi's Console. :idk:

I have a Electra Workingman X280 that honestly plays and sounds as good as my SG.
I played it at practice last night. I swear those pickups were made for fuzz.

Yep... I pointed that out a few times when the Console idea was brought up...

likewise. in fact, i recall wondering if Devi wasn't walking into a patent-infringement suit.

Hmm... Aren't they dead though... then again... originally weren't Electras made by Ibanez?

Whats old is new. I've see so many old products dug out and paraded around as the new thing over the years. Its just what happens. The Seymour Duncan amp with the replaceable tube preamps is another great example.

yeah, anything dealing with patents is only actionable if the holder of the original patent's rights decides to fuck with you. i don't know how long those rights would have lasted, or if they'd have expired by now. it would have been wise to engage a patent-law attorney and do a search just to cover one's ass; however, with no offense meant to Devi, i doubt Hoshino (if they are in fact the patent holder) can even see her on their scope.
