Your humble opinion (Cathedral for RV5)

Got a trade offer, my RV-5 + Cash (60$) for the Cathedral. Heres the thing. I like the hall/plate settings on the RV-5 but I mainly only use it for the Modulate mode. While the Cathedral doesn't have modulate, it seems to have everything else I can ever need.

Should I do it?

edit: I decided a no go. I'm in the middle of moving and it's been a nightmare, so ultimately that made my decision haha.

Sell the RV-5 and buy a Cathedral for cheaper?

Depends on how you use the modulation on the rv-5 if you use it like a flanger I'd say go for it cuz the grail is excellent!!

It seems that the RV-5 doesn't sell for more than 100$ used. I've never seen a cathedral go lower than 150$

I use it to give my sound a more Cocteau Twins vibe.

I'm actually not convinced to make the trade just yet as I don't really see myself using the infinite features or reverse THAT much. Thought I'd get everyones opinion on ILF cause y'all rule.

Imo if yoyu use the rv-5 for modulate you sould keep it. The only pedals that come close to that sound are the neunaber wet, hall of fame, or space. Plus the boss is a smaller footprint. I would try find a place to try the cathedral out but I think you would miss the modulate mode on the rv-5...its pretty unique.

Save for a while, get them both, if you use the rv-5 for specific functions, I would not sell it!

Hey, brandy new here . . . I'll not lie, I had a Cathedral and thought it was great. For a time. And then I realized how it KILLED tone when pushed. I mean KILLED. Not pretty. And the infinite feature was not nearly as usable as I wanted it to be. It was pretty much the main reason why I got it in the first place, bummer. I ditched mine. That said, the reverse mode is cool especially when used in conjunction with some reverse delay. And the "flerb" was cool in tandem with a modulated delay. The only standard verb setting I used was "Accuspring" because it sounded the cleanest to me, which is sad. I like dirty tones but all I got was mud and sad. So umm, it's hard to say. The pedals could be cool stacked but that's not what you're asking. I guess the real question is: how sick of the rv5 are you? It seems like a pretty fair trade value wise so toss a coin :idk:

. Neither are end-all verb units. If you go with the Cathedral you will most likely want something else eventually.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Its really helped with my decision.

I think i'll hold out and wait to try out a Cathedral. The main reason being I'm in the middle of moving to a new city, and its been a shit show since I got here. So thats won over everything else.

But I will try it at some point over the next couple of months and will make sure not to get rid of the RV-5 before I try the Cathedral. And as one user suggested here, I may end up with both :lol:
