Mine is, frustratingly, in the country since... Saturday. And yet, not in my hands.

What's the customs situation in Ireland? Could be held up there.

It cleared customs yesterday morning, it may be arriving today.

I however, must depart because today is also the day my new amp is being collected.

Before I can play with either of them, I have to fix my violin.

Customs over here isn't the worst. My Boomerang was in Customs for one day, delivered the next. It's just kind hard to keep up to date with the tracking number, since (for example) last night I got an email at 11.45pm letting me know the FUCK had cleared customs (twice!) much earlier in the day.

Damn, 2 weeks? Sheesh.
I play.

so... always wondered.... if you were someone that lives where they get Time Raped by customs after buying from the US, would it work out better for you to buy something from a US builder, have it shipped to someone in the US, then have it sent to you as a gift? would that make it bypass all the Customs Madness? or does everything sit there until you pay a duty on it? gift or purchase?

Heck yes! That would save a lot of expenses. I once had a pedal shipped from a friend in Canada marked as a gift. Didn’t have to pay anything. But builders and online stores ship everything as “merchandise”, so you always have to pay. A lot of builders and stores are nice enough to put a low amount in the declaration, lower than it is, but the customs office insists on you showing them your paypal invoice and other documents. Builders should email a fake invoice, it would be quite handy.
Yesterday I waited 1,5 hours at the customs office.

I've had gifts hit by customs. It's usually a couple of weeks in customs and a huge fee on top of that. Utter, utter bastards. If the value of the package is around $50 it gets through but then if the actual value is more and you lose the package in the mail you're fucked. :grumpy:

Thankfully in the UK we don't have to show Paypal info or anything like that so if the value is put as less on the package than it is worth there's no problem with customs querying that.

01 - that pedal is AWESOME. makes me want to rape a cowboy. WITH HIS HORSE.

02 - well, if it ever seems like it'd help, you can buy something and have it delivered to me and i'll send it out as a gift or with a low value or however you want. it's ridiculous that you guys have to wait to much longer and pay more.

I remember the first time I got raped on customs, I wasn't even aware of custom duties and it was delivered by courier so a week after I got the package I got an invoice for the taxes. Duck rape comes to mind.

In Dutchyland they will go by declared value unless they suspect foul play in which case they will either contact you to provide details on the value, or open it up and assign their own. Marking it a gift does not matter, they will tax you regardless when the total value exceeds $30. To complete the Time Rapage, tax is paid over declared value + postage costs and the Dutch postal service slaps on a $20-$40 handling fee, depending on standard, priority or express.

Some builders/shops declare a very low value and mark it as a gift, others just put down the price you paid for it. It's something to be aware of when buying from the US, even if a store charges more it can work out cheaper in the end because they avoid the custom rapage.

1. Agreed, duck style.

2. Will keep that in mind.

I hope I'm not being too spam-y but
for people in Europe one of the advantages of buying pedals from european shops is avoiding the hassle of customs.
(almost everything you buy in the EU that comes from outside the EU must pay VAT…)

I bought my Goatkeeper from the US and I paid £230 including post. Place I bought it from put a lower value on the customs form. I could've bought the exact same thing from Joe's Pedals (UK site) and it would cost £295 before post. That's why I buy from the US :idk:

I am in love with that cowboy fuck.

I am also in love with sentences that can be taken out of context.
