does anybody reember anymore the Iron Monkey? Saw the on Rise Above tour with Cathedral and Orange Goblin.. a... wow, a decade or so back? Twelve years ago? Thirteen? Erm... HOW can it be that long ago? Now they see to be labeled as sludge - it¨s a trend, perhaps (they try to label Godflesh nowadays sludge and post etal and whatnot when they always were simply industrial metal) - but back then they were simply downright hard core stoner doom.

Anyways, it was good a good night. Iron Monkey, << check it. :poke:

FOREVER HIGH ON FIRE. +1 on anything Wino has done. Pelican totally ripped off a riff from The Obsessed's 'Lunar Womb' 20 odd years later due to it's abhorrent heft.

Also, Neurosis. A bit heavier than many heavy things.

Schnikes covered all of my recommendations already

Schnikes is good isn't he! I think my favourite band new band through this thread is Red Fang, I really love their album and have been listening to it like crazy.

Second up... CONAN! Their cd is called Horseback Battle Hammer... the first track is called Krull... if I didn't know better I'd think I was in this band!

I play some Red Fang and Baroness on a regular basis.
Kylesa is amazing, Torche is pretty sweet too.
I feel that Isis can start to sound very similar to these as well.

Yep I like those guys too!

Still loving Black Sleep of Kali like crazy too, I think their cd is one of the best I've heard in a long time, really awesome guitar in it.

I have to say I'd stick clutch in this category too.

I would assume that you either love or hate clutch at this point without me telling you.

Haha yeah they've been on my radar for years but I just never got into them... I'm not a hater though, probably just need to give them a proper listening.

My favorite for the past couple months has been Dopethrone, sure any of their riffs could have come from a certain album with the same name as the band, but it still fucking rocks
