Hmmmm. Hoegaarden is probably my least favourite "Belgian" wheat ale. That or the U.F.O. It just doesn't have the refreshing bonk to it that other Belgians do. You want the supreme hefeweisen?

Have a pint of that. In a tall glass. Very cold. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Tonight I hath this:

Shit is surprisingly strong. AND TASTY.

I've recently started branching out from standard pbr/natty/stones available at Parties/Rugby and learned that I actually like beer :D

So far my favorites have been Oatmeal Stouts/Imperial Stouts- do y'all have any suggestions on bottles or different types of beer to try?

Can't go wrong with Sam Smith's.

THIS! Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout is what got me in love with beer. If you can get it, Berkshire Brewing Company makes a great Coffeehouse Porter, as well as a Draymans Porter that's really nice.

Also, Williams Brothers Midnight Sun porter is great - http://www.williamsbrosbrew.com/contemp ... ?id=35#top

People need to stop putting fruit in their beer. This is wrong. When I see a lemon in a Corona or an orange in a Blue Moon, I think... This person doesn't want to drink beer.

There's a difference between this:

and this:

It has nothing to do with masculinity.

The point is moot. Corona just tastes like shit, so why drink it? Dogshit tastes better with maple syrup on it, but why bother?

Sometimes I forget to request NO FRUIT in my beer when I'm out and about and order a hefeweizen... uuuuuuuggggghhhhhh.

Yes! Yes! YES! One of my top three beers! IMO, this is the best of the Bear Republic offerings, though all that I've tried are quite good. Gives you some hair on your chest with all the strength, but it's a really really delicious and well made beer.

Just raided the local stores for Russian River's outstanding Pliny the Elder today and managed to come up with 16 of them. Karma be damned, I bought all that were on the shelves. Really it's awesome to even find it available, as allocations are tight and it's only delivered once a month. The owner of one store tells me it sells out in 2 days each time they get a few cases in.

I bet we have a similar palette when it comes to tasty beers. I have always wanted to try Pliny The Elder and Pliny The Younger, but I don't think they're available anywhere in Michigan. Some day.

We just got a few different Bear Republic beers into our Whole Foods... all three of them are solid. The Hop Rod Rye is the best, and the Red Rocket is also killer... that's a unique beer for sure. Has a lot of shit floating around in it... still good. The Racer 5 IPA comes close to Bell's Two Hearted here in MI... just not quite.

Enjoy.

So I brewed a Flanders Red Ale way back in November of 2009. It's been sitting in a carboy in my buddy Jay's basement ever since, aging. I've almost been dreading cracking it open, afraid it was going to just be a bucket of vinegar at this point (even though I know that Flanders Red's are supposed to take 12-18 months anyways). Well, we finally cracked it open today and gave it a taste. I have to say, it is damn good. Almost perfect. The only thing I would change about it is that it is just a bit too sour for most people's palates, even though I think it's delicious as it is. So I decided to brew a half-batch of the same beer, but without the bacterial strains, just with normal yeast, and blend them to bring the sourness down a smidge. Another couple weeks, and this baby should be ready. I think this one is going to be BJCP-competition material :animal: :!!!:

Respectfully disagree. Ommegang is better than half the trappists I've had.
