Books: Anything written by H.P. Lovecraft, Gibson's Sprawl trilogy, The Stand, 1984, City Come A-Walkin', Pretty much anything Stephenson, probably more I can't think of.

Manga: BLAME! (and anything Nihei), Trigun (though I like the anime more), MPD-Psycho, Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, Hellsing.

Oh when it comes to comics, I'm a pretty big fan of most of the 90's Image stuff, heh.

Poetry: Not a fan.

I have a degree in English Lit, but I'm going to ignore most of the Eng. Lit stuff and just list a few books among my favorite pleasure reading!

--Neil Gaiman...especially Anansi Boys and American Gods.

--Tad Williams' Otherland series (ridiculously huge, could've benefited from an editor to slash as much as an entire book), but it was so expansive and imaginative. I love losing myself in millions of sub-stories, and the way they all come together.

--Douglas Adams...Hitchhikers books (which I actually thought got smarter, if darker, as they went along). (The Dirk Gently books are good too.)

--Chuck Palahniuk's Survivor...maybe his tone and subjects are similar, and I'm not into the shock stuff, but Survivor is just a brilliant look at people becoming cogs, education, and the folly of scheduling your life out. The stuff about how scheduling your life out, building your life around your work, is the same as being able to see the future...set against the characters who can actually see into the future...and all want to die because of the lack of surprise in their lives. So many subtitles beneath the in-your-face stuff, all in a pretty great doomed-hero tale.

There are a bunch more predictable and classic books I love, 1984, and tons of the things I read for my major, but that's enough for now!

and you don't like it? or you see it as only a farce? Do you have both of the hardcovers, or just the first? I personally consider it to be the most complete and uplifting work about the human condition I've ever read. and it's still fun. I'm waiting for an absolute edition, but for now i just have all the issues i've been getting since it started. I cry every time I read issue 10. no joke. like this:

weird. i see it as the ultimate testament to the potential good inside us all. I'm pretty sure that was the intention as well (beyond just telling the ultimate superman story). where as holy terror, i believe is intended as a farce. i think i can agree to disagree, though. just wanted to make it clear that this is actually something important to me.

I really liked American Hardcore,as for comics and stuff I like when Todd McFarlane did the art for Spiderman,The Killing Joke,Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns,and uhhh probably a shit ton of other stuff I'm forgetting.Oh yeah the Howard the Duck comics too!Does any one wanna recommend me some gore/horror/zombie comics while we're here?

This is a little obvious but have you read Robert Kirkman's Marvel Zombies? Arthur Suydam's take on classic comic Marvel covers are unbelievable!

I just finished reading Noise by Nihei Tsutomu, very cool manga, drawing style is really refreshing, I'd call it gothic cyberpunk if anything.
