My own take on the whole three-transistor fuzz thing. Part Tonebender, part Radio Shack Fuzz, part Meathead, part Fetzer, with a dash of the Funky Jesus' own tinkering. 8)

Working on a sound clip shortly. It's got great sustain and compression. Sounds like a cross between a tight fuzz and a heavy drive. Articulate with complex chords as well. Buttloads of output volume as well, so the circuit has room to grow with a tone stack, etc.

The enclosure I got in a trade on the BYOC forum. The pot holes were badly misdrilled, so I decided to decorate. Took a leftover piece of copper clad, drilled it out for 6-32 hardware and did up with some brass thumbscrews. Covers up the bad work and looks pretty cool, too.

Stamped it up and went with a big-ass old knob. No idea where it came from, but it's a solo, and this seemed like the right project. Yellow 3mm LED, of course.






Here's a shot of the populated board again. The rest of the guts is boring; same old crap.

At the moment, no. But that's sort of the plan going forward. I'm sending the other board I have to another fellow circuit whore to build and try out a few things.

It's a tad noisy, which isn't surprising given the crazy gain, so perhaps a little extra noise filtering would be a good addition. I could also see people wanting a fuzz/gain control, but I sort of like the simplicity of it as is, and also it responds quite will to guitar controls (at least with humbuckers). It would also be trivial to add a gain control to the existing layout in at least two places.
