if you do that, the price is really cheap for the PCB but if you buy his kit with the plexi its only like $60 cheaper than the assembled unit for $360. I have wanted one for a while but I think when I build one it will be a bit different. the casper has square wave lfo's that modulate volume. its cool but I think the LFO could benefit from waveshapes or complex envelopes.
my suggestion is to pick up a korg monotron for $60. you can mod the hell out of them and make it into a fullsize synth even. I have seen them with CV in's and out's. I have some getlofi 555pcb's and a stack of 556's IC's. bug brand and beavis audio have tutorials for simple oscillators. electro-music lunettas forum has a project for every cmos IC. hang out on muffwiggler forum and ask some questions. you could build you own modular. Music from outer space aka mfos has modular and standalone synths and noisemakers. check out the MFOS WSG

1)there are tons of diy options that have CV in. like the doepfer complete kit is about $400 to $500. its a complete musical mono synth module. you wont find an analog poly synth kit. it doesnt really go down like that. lots of reasons why but ummm yeah. you will need to buy a midi keyboard and mod the crap out of it to produce CV or.... you could just buy a midi to CV converter. tuning the oscillators on the monosynth is one thing. tuning the CV out of the midi-to-CV unit is compunded by the drift and tolerance of the diy monosynth you built. thats why its better to have a midi-to-cv that is bench tested and calibrated. also, midi-to-cv boxes dont really drift as long as the proper power supply is used. the power supply is used as a reference voltage. saggy power = saggy notes.
2)he wont sell the plexi enclosure if you dont buy his $100 bag of resistors. then your right back up to $300. the pcb is only $60 and I could totally swing that.

The plexi "enclosure" really looks like it's just a plexi top with the sides still open. I might be wrong but...ehh, I'd rather make my own than pay for that. The PCB art is there somewhere, but it's for the first version of it...
