Burris is shit to my ears. Sorry. We had both, the blue and the red one, at the parctice space and invested quite a bit of time. not enough bass, too many highs, tremolo is too hard (poti is chopping and start right in the middle - so, it is a hard one in my book). presence is taking action in the wrong place and with single coils you have to crank it that it sounds not too thin... short, not impressed by the sound. build quality, features and design is top notch! i would love to buy one. Really. I like the looks, the concept(s), the weight etc. But the sound does not fit me... the red one was even more horrible to me.

No, sorry, it was loud as hell at H&K. So we passed it quite fast.

Sorry Jero, no picture of that guitar. And honestly i can't remember it (thread is too old for my old brain). Did not get my attention.

and about the cross: that is nick's personal guitar. they do not come with this. (and btw the iron cross is not nazi - it is older. but i do not like it either and i said it to him, when i played the guitar. he just laughed. probably he is testing people with it (sry, my weird asumption))

Cool, thanks for the mini-reviews. I've never played any of the Burris stuff but had heard some good things about the Royal Bluesman.

The Iron Cross is not really a Nazi symbol, though. It was used by the Prussian empire, and by every German military since then. The German military still uses it:

Same deal with the Swastika. Turns out, for an artist, Hitler wasn't very creative.

So? Still the first thing people in the western Kulturkreis think of when they see that is not - "Oh, the Hindu sun symbol" or "Oh, isn't that what I've seen on the Bundeswehr plane that flew by yesterday". Symbols aren't what wikipedia says but what people think when they see them. Symbolic content isn't that same as definition in many cases. If you use militaristic stuff like the Iron Cross, particularly as a german you have to be aware you're raising a shitstorm. Or you're catering to people I would want no relation with. Symbolic meaning changes over the time, admittedly. Maybe I am just too sensitive to this shite. But it makes me cringe.
On the way this stuff changes: I remember my grandmother raising a huge argument because I had a skull on my t-shirt when I was 14 or so. I didn't get it at all. Of course I did not want her to like the t-shirt but I hadn't thought it would cause such problems. Turns out she was thinking of the SS when she saw skulls.

It's hard to fathom what other people think.

I agree that the Iron Cross has a wider meaning even as a symbol. I wasn't referring to it as a Nazi symbol. But even when you think of the "glorious" airfights of WWI, which is what this makes me think of first, that's just shit I don't want on my guitar.

Lol and does anyone remember TWA's pedal last year that had a controversial symbol as well?

Original Symbol looked like this:
