I find that burning cobwebs really help bring out the fragile upper harmonics as well as accentuate the low upper mids in my klon while still holding the character of my John, Clapton, King HHSH 70's vintage reissue custom shop master-built relic stratocaster.

resistors and caps of that age will drift in value, so it's not going to sound like it did the day it was built, but things will probably be within tolerances with eachother. Not gonna blow up, in my opinion.
