As an aside, anyone else feel like we should have a sticky in Gear for "How Do I get X Sound?" Seems like it'd be handy to have a repository of tips and factoids? Just a thought.

I've thought about that too...not necessarily for copping someone else's sound, but atleast trying to figure out what effects were used? (sometimes it can be hard to tell, especially when lots of different things are combined)

This. or a good place to ask for specific pedals that fit a tonal character. i.e. I've been recently looking to kind of get that Verse Rhythm guitar overdrive tone from NIN's Getting smaller. its' like a light jangly overdrive but also not to scratchy in the treble department.


It's buggin me. I'm hoping my EB>KP twin clone I'm getting will get me close with one of the bright or darker overdrives it has.

We have one of those on Talkbass, but it's usually "I just wanna add a touch of grit" or something along those lines. The answer is always Rusty Box though.
Over here, there isn't a single one-box answer for all toanz. Slightly more complicated!
