What do you college folk listen to while studying? So far,I've had great results with Apostrophe and Hot Rats by Zappa. Recommend me something!

While I was taking my summer class I was listening to a lot of The Appleseed Cast and Russian Circles, it was just a bonus that they were awesome inspiration for speech writing. :!!!:

Man, I remember studying for my O-grades (yes, it was a million years ago -- those were final exams you took in Scotland after 4 years of highschool, they've long since done away with those) listening to a cassette (I told you it was a million years ago) with Velvet Underground on one side and Tangerine Dream on the other. I still listen to those two when I'm concentrating. The last stages of the last big genome mapping project I worked on were completed at 3 am with Stratosfear on loud in the lab.

Cocteaus are good too.

I used to listen to De-loused in the Comatorium by the Mars Volta a lot when I'd do math in High School. Now, I tend to listen to Hell Songs by Daughters, but that may be a bit chaotic for some. I'd go for TMV if I were you.

Yeah, that sounds like it'd be horrible for me. Way too busy. It's the kind of music that it's a sin to listen to without your full attention.

I like early Daft Punk for studying and also driving. Homework mostly, but maybe their live albums too. Discovery is a little too melodic and Human After All blows my mind every time I listen to it(seriously, SOOOOOOOOOO underrated).

Maybe some Explosions in the Sky or other instrumental post-rock. Not Sigur Ros though, that's another band that's too good not to have my complete concentration.

One time when I was really stoned I was laying on my bed listening to Takk and I just had to shut it off because it was so goddamn amazing that I just couldn't handle it at the moment.

Hmmm, when I was in college usually I'd study/do work with the tv on as opposed to music. But if I was listening to music it would probably be post metal, progressive death metal, or technical progressive metal. Something that would block out the rest of the world.

apparently I heard you're supposed to listen to instrumental music because the lyrics can apparently distract you. I never really tried this though.. so idk?
