Poll: Help me (almost) complete my setup!

Post by phantasmagorovich »

I want to buy a great sounding delay. Additional features are a bonus but I want it to sound awesome doing what it should do do do do do do

There are these options:

Moogerfooger
Has all the additional patchable stuffers. Seems to sound great. I know my buddy Univalve loves his. Bonus points for flippability.

El Cap
Does it live up to the hype? Warm tape stuff sounds great. Bonus points for looping ability.

Endangered Audio Delay
The odd one. Bonus points for that. Has blendable delay voicings and the bloke from Emeralds uses it.

Please tell me what you think.

El Cap for sure... the Moog is just way too expensive (imo). Although I know everyone who has one loves it... I really want one :(

But out of those I'd choose the El Cap for its versatility
too legit to quit

Go with the Moog. You seem to be on a spending spree anyway, might as well ignore price and get the best thing available.

Endangered Audio thing doesn't look too bad except for the 300ms part, coupled with the price tag and I'd look elsewhere.

The El Cap simply doesn't do it for me, which makes the choice out of these 3 easy. That said, you could wait out this Timeline thing. It might pack everything you like about the El Cap and a whole ton of other stuff.

If I were in your position I would try my hardest to wait a couple more weeks and try to snag a Timeline. That way you'll have the El Cappy. Plus the Brig sounds great too. PLUS all those other modes on their website sound amazing. PLUUUS feedback loop or stereo in/out, midi sync, nice looper, and a gajillion presets!!!!!!!

OMG I need to go change my pants now.

But if you're not into the waiting game I think I would go with the Moogerfooger. I KNOW, I KNOW... the Cap'n is my favorite delay, but I've always wanted to try the MF-104... so I'd just end up living out my fantasies through you.

This, I've had to resist BST for awhile now. Timeline gives me major hard-on.

Just wait for the timeline to be released and everyone will be flipping their el caps.

Keep in mind the looping on the El Capistan is a more lo-fi looping. Not really useful for things you'd use a RC-3 or DL-4 looper for, but more Z.vex Lo-Fi Loop Junky stuff.

The Moog sounds awesome for sure, but unless you're going to be using the CV stuff it might be overkill. How about real tape delays?

Hmm. I am not a huge fan of toooo many options, so the Timeline is for other people. I tend to choose one setting I like and then not use all the rest. I am leaning towards getting the Moog since I got offered an used one and would cash in most of the money with another sale. I could definitely flip it without losing money, maybe I could even make a profit. So if it turns out I don't like the Moog I can still get the Cap, since after some testing will be just about the time the timeline gets released. Now just hope with me that deal does work out.

Edit: Kosta was quicker than me. That is something to ponderosa...

Yeah, but with his other stuff that has cv possibilities it may be worth it. Also with his drone project.
It sounds just so good. (and feedback Loop with filter is amazing)
