Best of the Norm...
what are the best every day pedals out there? The reason why im asking is I have a $130 gift card to Daddys junky music and all they have is crap like this. I'm trying to figure out how to spend this thing.

Phase 90, Hardwire Tube OVerdrive, big muff with tone wicker, Shure SM58 + XLR cable. Those are just some suggestions. I'd call a local guitar store and ask them what pedals they have for $120 and see what they say.

I'd say SMMH but I guess that's too expensive.
I've heard good things about the MXR Distortion + but I'm not sure if the new ones are good. How much are those little Boss loopers? Those are pretty sweet.

How do i tell if that rat has a lm308 chip or is one of the good ones? The punkifier is interesting, but ive never really heard it.

punkifier = Stooges in a box. It has a really nice OD side and a buzzy 60's style fuzz and you can blend between the two.

Re: Best of the Norm...
DOOD just get that RAT. Even if it doesn't have the lm308, it's an essential pedal to own, and honestly, a lot of that hulabaloo about the chip is...well, hulabaloo. If you're gonna like the RAT, you'll like it regardless. THEN, you'll blow all your cash getting a jerms clone of a '87 whiteface. BUT, first things first, buy the sixty dollar one.
EDIT: OKAY, so, there's actually some cool pedals on here.
http://www.daddys.com/detail.php?itemTi ... er=ARI7168 there was actually a thread on this pedal praising it.
http://www.daddys.com/detail.php?itemTi ... er=IBA7064 saw one of these selling for some RIDICULOUS price on the 'bay. sounds like a cool, cheap pedal.
http://www.daddys.com/detail.php?itemTi ... er=DOD4256 a CLASSIC, Muddy will tell you all about it.
http://www.daddys.com/detail.php?itemTi ... er=DOD0453 I had one of these, was a great overdrive that really didn't take over the character of your sound.
all in all, the chain has a pretty decent selection of used pedals. I'd get any of these, or one (or two, or three) of the countless BMPs that are available, like tuffteef said.

Re: Best of the Norm...
Guyatone micro pedals tend to be good and often undervalued used. I've got the flanger, chorus, and trem -- I'd recommend the first two.
Danelectro pedals from the first 90's series can float by cheap sometimes, and are often pretty cool. The Daddy-O is a clone of the first-generation Marshall Guv'nor. The original Cool Cat Chorus is a Boss CE-2 clone, IIRC.
Bargain bin: Fender Starcaster and the Daphon-built Maestro pedals that have been sold in blister packs at big-box stores can often be much better than you would think, often leveraging/stealing classic designs. If they're in a $5 bin, explore the options.
