Hi,
I just bought a TGD, and wanted to use it a) as a send effect or to re-record stuff through it in a DAW and b) to process synths in a live setup
I tried using it as a send effect in Cubase, and while it worked fine, I couldn't get the same wide range of sounds you hear in demos where it is used with guitars, like in the Proguitarshop one; when knob fiddling, the changes seem to be more much more subtle, and I can't recreate many of the tones I've heard. Would it make sense to use, say, a boost pedal (e.g. a Keeley Electronics Java Boost, which has tone, gain and a toggle switch) to mimic the kind of interactive control you hear in the PGS demo when using the guitar controls, in order to get more varied noises from the TGD? As for the more standard use of processing synths in a gig, would the same apply (I remember trying a Zvex Fuzz Factory once and having pretty much the same problem)?
Any ideas?

The TGD reacts pretty violently to knob changes on guitars. Resistance and capacitance changing to be more precise. When your interface spits something out, its a lot more "consistant" I think.

Hmm, then maybe it would be more responsive when processing some analog synth (? noob with these kind of things) - anyway, I'll try that too and see how it works. Thanks Aen!

It would be more likely, but I don't know for sure. I only have a Little Phatty, which has a digital interface, I dont know if that come sin to play on the output at all. also haven't tried it. also cant try it till moog fixes it and sends it back to me. Sorry for worthless post.

What if denstrow threw another pedal inline before the TGD? Could he get more variation in resistance & capacitance that way?
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Yes, that's what I was thinking of doing, probably put a boost pedal with a tone control before the TGD...I'll give it a try as soon as I can borrow one, and post the results for anyone interested in using the TGD in this way. For now I'm using it with a guitar and lovin' it, only I don't really do a lot of guitar based music at the moment.

its the same reason you don't put oscillating pedals after a buffer. it fucks everything up. it's never going to sound the same.
take any pedal where you can control the oscilation with your volume knob and try placing it after a boss tuner or some other kind of pedal, try doing the same thing... nope. ain't gonna happne
nature of the beast. guitars were pretty much built for the kind of stuff. Unintentionally of course.
you can still get crazy awesome sounds. the other thing you could do is build one of those passive "pickup emulators" I've seen things about them on the internet. using inductors and pots to simulate having the pedal right after the box get a singal mimicking a certain pickup impedance and such.
I thought it was mojo bullshit but in this case it might actually make for an interesting noise interface when sending digital signals through analogue gear.
